Fayetteville Police Renew Call for Public's Help in Unsolved Homicide

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Police Department is once again appealing to the public for assistance in a cold case, the homicide of Darden Rhodes, a 51-year-old man from Missouri, who was shot and killed on March 10, 2025.

According to police reports, officers responded to a shooting report at approximately 8:03 a.m. in the 1300 block of Sapona Road. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male with gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as Darden Rhodes.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit have been pursuing leads since the incident but are now urging the public to come forward with any and all information, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was in the area of Sapona Road on the morning of March 10 and may have seen or heard anything suspicious.

The department is also requesting residents and businesses in the vicinity to review any surveillance footage from that day, as it may contain crucial information related to the case.
