FAYETTEVILLE, NC – A 28-year-old Fayetteville man was shot and killed in the early hours of Monday morning, prompting an active homicide investigation by the Fayetteville Police Department.
Authorities identified the victim as Tavon Donte Adams, a Black male. His next of kin has been notified.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Slim Circle at approximately 2:02 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Adams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began administering life-saving measures, but Adams succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medical personnel.
The Fayetteville Police Department's Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Details surrounding the shooting remain limited as the investigation is ongoing.
