FAYETTEVILLE, NC – A significant new resource is arriving in the Murchison Road area with the upcoming opening of the Way2Real Community Center. This collaborative effort between the city of Fayetteville and Tony Haire Ministries culminates in a Key Handoff Ceremony this Friday, June 27, at 2pm, marking a pivotal moment for the community. The ceremony will take place at the center's location, 2400 Murchison Road.

This recently renovated facility, which benefited from a substantial $1 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, is poised to become a vital hub for residents. It's designed to provide crucial services including affordable mental and behavioral health support, enriching programs for youth and teens, academic tutoring, and essential career and workforce development initiatives.

Fayetteville’s Mayor Mitch Colvin emphasized the center’s importance, stating it represents another meaningful stride in the ongoing revitalization of the Murchison Road corridor. He highlighted its role as a secure and supportive environment for young people to learn and develop.

For the past two years, Dr. Tony Haire, who directs the Way2Real Community Center, and his dedicated team have actively engaged with the community. Their collaborative work with residents, local businesses, educators, and young people ensured that the center's offerings are truly reflective of the community's priorities and needs.

The center will operate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with special events scheduled for Saturdays. Its programming will be bolstered by a network of partnerships, including collaborations with Best Buy, local record labels, Fayetteville State University, NCWorks, local schools, various mental health providers, and public safety agencies, among others.

The establishment of the Way2Real Community Center is a key element of the broader Murchison Choice Neighborhood Plan. This comprehensive, community-driven plan was shaped through extensive input from residents, community partners, and stakeholders via surveys, listening sessions, and inter-agency cooperation. It serves as a guiding framework for the neighborhood's transformation, embodying the collective aspirations of the Murchison Road community.
