Details Emerge in Sexual Battery Case Against Fayetteville Officer

June 19, 20252 min read

Fayetteville Police Officer Jacob Jones, made his first appearance in court today, following his arrest yesterday evening. Jones is being charged with 6 counts of misdemeanor sexual battery from a single incident this past May.

The charges stem from a single incident on May 13, 2025. Officer Jones was assisting another officer with a call for a wanted person along the Bragg Boulevard corridor, when he reportedly touched a female employee multiple times while reviewing surveillance video.

Arrest warrants obtained by Fay News 10 detail multiple alleged instances of unwanted touching by Officer Jones, all being referred to as “by force and against the will of the other person.” These include rubbing the victim's back and buttocks, touching the inside of her thigh on two separate occasions, and placing his hand on her buttocks and upper chest near her breast. Additionally, Jones is accused of lifting the victim's shirt to touch her back.

The department's Office of Professional Standards launched an internal administrative investigation immediately after receiving the complaint on June 10th, 2025, and placed Jones on administrative leave. Simultaneously, detectives from the Special Victims Unit initiated a separate criminal investigation, which ultimately established probable cause for Jones's arrest on June 18th, 2025. He was taken into custody at the Fayetteville Police Department and transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center, where he was being held on a $25,000 secured bond.

After his first appearance in court this afternoon, Jones's bond has been reduced to $10,000 and he has officially secured legal representation. His next appearance has been scheduled for August, and upon any possible bond release, he will be placed on house arrest pending his next court date.

Two additional victims has since come forth, but no additional details have been shared. We will continue to follow this case and provide any additional details as they are discovered.
