Fayetteville Police Department Announces Arrest in Pedestrian Fatality Investigation

On April 30, 2025, the Fayetteville Police Department announced an arrest in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on April 12, 2025. The investigation began after a CrimeStoppers tip was received on April 28, 2025. Detectives from the Traffic Investigative Unit followed up on the leads provided by the tip.

On April 29, 2025, a 2021 Kia Forte with damage consistent with the collision was located at a home in the 500 block of Auburndale Drive in the Loch Lomond subdivision. A suspect and the registered owner of the vehicle were detained. Jamal Andre Holliday, 35, was charged with Felony Hit-and-Run and Driving with a Revoked License. He was booked into the Cumberland County Detention Center and held on a $35,000 secured bond.

The initial incident occurred on April 12, 2025, at approximately 8:34 p.m. near N. Reilly Road and Telfair Drive. Officers responded to a pedestrian-involved hit-and-run. The victim was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and later succumbed to their injuries. Their identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. The suspect vehicle fled south on N. Reilly Road.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help. Anyone who was in the area of N. Reilly Road between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on April 12, 2025, and saw a vehicle with front passenger-side damage, possibly with a broken or non-functioning headlight, is asked to contact Police Specialist Biggerstaff at 910-751-1382.
