
A teenager is in the custody after a weapon was found on the campus of Pine Forest High School. According to Officials, the incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Staff at the high school, located on Andrews Road, received a report regarding a possible weapon on the premises. Following the report, the Cumberland County School Administration and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation.
Information obtained by Fay News 10 indicates that School Resource Officer Corporal Tony James located a loaded handgun based on the reports provided. The student identified in connection with the weapon was subsequently taken into custody.
Youth Services Detectives have filed a petition with the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), charging the juvenile offender with Possession of a Firearm on Educational Property. The individual remains in the custody of the DJJ.
Cumberland County Sheriff Johnathan T. Morgan addressed the incident, noting that student and staff safety remains a priority. The Sheriff acknowledged the reports made by the school community which led to the recovery of the firearm.
