SAMPSON COUNTY, NC – The Sampson County Board of Commissioners today unanimously voted to appoint Sampson County native Allen Vann as the county's new County Manager, effective July 7, 2025. The decision was the first order of business during a Special Meeting of the Board held this morning.

Chairman Allen McLamb expressed the Board's confidence in Vann, stating, "Board members have each spent several hours with Mr. Vann and believe he is the individual that can keep us moving forward toward better community relationships and continued collaborative, transparent, and professional management of the county."

Vann brings a wealth of experience to the role, most recently serving as Assistant County Manager in Pender County, North Carolina, one of the state's fastest-growing counties. His career includes work in several high-growth organizations, providing him with enhanced skills in Economic Development, Budgeting, Capital Projects Management, and Strategic Planning.

In his new position, Vann will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Sampson County Government, working in close collaboration with county staff, elected officials, and community stakeholders to address the county's needs and priorities.

Vann conveyed his gratitude for the appointment, remarking, "I consider this an honor and a privilege. I look forward to collaborating with the Commissioners, county personnel, and community to promote and build upon our strengths and work towards viable solutions for various challenges facing the county."

A true Sampson County native, Vann grew up in the Clement community. His journey took him away from his roots for college in Wilmington, followed by a career that led him to other locales. "Life happened with marriage, children, and career that took me to other places," Vann reflected. "It’s so surreal. I’m thrilled that things have come full circle, and I can return home to be a public servant to the citizens of Sampson County.”

Vann's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, a Master of Business Administration from Meredith College, and completion of the UNC School of Government Municipal and County Administration course.
