
Barricaded Suspect Identified After Yesterday's Standoff
Fayetteville, NC – A wanted suspect was taken into custody without incident Monday morning after a five-hour standoff in the 1900 block of Tinman Drive.
At approximately 7:00 a.m. on June 9, 2025, the Fayetteville Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to a report of a barricaded individual.
The department's Crisis Negotiation Team engaged with the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Kirby Lee Brooks, for five hours. Utilizing de-escalation tactics and specialized operations, VCAT and ERT members successfully apprehended Brooks without any further issues.
Brooks, a white male, was arrested and faces charges of Larceny of Firearm, Possession of Stolen Firearm, and Resist Delay or Obstruct an Officer. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on an $11,000 secured bond.
