Cape Fear Valley Health today celebrated the groundbreaking of a significant expansion to its First Adventures Child Development Center, a project that will establish it as the largest daycare facility in Cumberland County.

Located at 1727 Roxie Ave. in Fayetteville, the existing First Adventures facility is a four-star licensed childcare center dedicated to serving the children of Cape Fear Valley Health employees. Currently the second-largest daycare in the county, it offers care for children aged six weeks through pre-kindergarten, as well as before- and after-school programs for children up to age 12.

The newly announced $4.8 million expansion will add a substantial 11,519 square feet to the center, bringing its total footprint to 26,494 square feet. Plans include the construction of 12 new classrooms, which will enable First Adventures to increase its enrollment capacity to 200 children and create 30 new staff positions. The project also encompasses an expansion of the daycare's playground.

Construction is expected to be completed this winter. This investment reflects Cape Fear Valley Health's ongoing commitment to supporting its workforce and their families by providing access to quality early childhood education. The expanded First Adventures center will not only offer increased capacity but also solidify its position as the largest daycare facility in Cumberland County.
