Fayetteville Homicide Investigation Underway After Dornoch Drive Shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Fayetteville Police are actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, June 8, 2025, in the 3600 block of Dornoch Drive.

At approximately 3:29 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting and upon arrival, located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Rolando Gomez II, a Black male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives believe the shooting transpired while two individuals were in the process of breaking into vehicles at an apartment complex in the area. A witness provided descriptions of the suspects: one is a Black male of average height and build, observed wearing a Hellstar brand hoodie, black pants, and carrying a backpack. The second suspect is described as a light-skinned Black male of average height and build, wearing either a brown shirt or no shirt, gray sweatpants with red underwear or shorts showing, and short twists in his hair.

Investigators are making an urgent appeal to the public for assistance. Anyone who may have seen these individuals at any time on June 8, 2025, or in the days leading up to it, is asked to contact the department with the time and location of the encounter. Additionally, residents and businesses in the vicinity of Dornoch Drive or Bromley Drive (at the top end of Yadkin Road) are requested to review and submit any surveillance video activations they may have recorded between midnight and 5 a.m. on the morning of June 8, 2025. Finally, anyone in the area who had their vehicle broken into on or around the morning of June 8th and has not yet reported it is urged to contact the police.
