FAYETTEVILLE, NC – A multi-agency investigation culminated today with the arrest of Shawn Antonio Davis, 39, in Boston, Massachusetts. Davis was wanted for First-Degree Murder in connection with the homicide of Laquarius Devontanious Dove, which occurred on March 8, 2025, at 307 Pebble Street in Fayetteville.

Davis, a Black male, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service without incident. His apprehension is the result of extensive collaborative efforts between the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit and federal law enforcement partners.

The victim, Laquarius Devontanious Dove, was tragically killed earlier this year, prompting a thorough investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Detectives diligently worked to identify Davis as the primary suspect, leading to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

Authorities have also confirmed that William Orlando Mills, Jr., 40, of Fayetteville, who was previously sought for questioning in connection with this investigation, is no longer considered a person of interest.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office extends its gratitude to the U.S. Marshals Service for their invaluable assistance in locating and apprehending Davis.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information regarding this case is encouraged to contact Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Homicide Detective I. Fisk at (910) 677-5463.
