Fayetteville, NC – February 18, 2025 - With inclement weather expected to impact the region, both Cumberland and Sampson County Schools have announced adjustments to their schedules for Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Cumberland County Schools:

Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will be closed for students on Wednesday. District employees will be working remotely. All after-school activities, including athletic practices and events, are canceled for Wednesday. The district’s Prime Time Before & After School Program will also be closed.

Students enrolled in courses at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, or through the College Connections program should contact their instructors for specific guidance regarding class schedules and potential adjustments.

District offices and school buildings will be closed, although employees will be teleworking. Employees with questions are encouraged to contact their direct supervisors.

CCS leadership is working closely with Emergency Management Officials to monitor weather conditions, paying particular attention to the potential for icy roads and widespread power outages. The district has stated that it will provide updates regarding the schedule for the remainder of the week as needed.

The district's inclement weather plan prioritizes the safety of all students and staff. Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay informed by checking for updates. Any additional changes to the district's schedule will be communicated through a ParentLink message, as well as updates posted on the district's official website and social media pages. The district urges families to exercise caution during the anticipated weather event.

Sampson County Schools:

Sampson County Schools (SCS) will transition to an asynchronous remote learning day for students and staff on Wednesday. Teachers have provided students with paper copies of classwork to be completed and have also uploaded assignments in Google Classroom. Per the SCS Remote Learning Plan, students will have five days to turn in their completed assignments once school reopens.

All after-school activities and events are canceled for Wednesday, February 19. Any conference tournament games will be rescheduled for another day.

Sampson County families can expect official updates via text message, phone message, and email, as well as on the district website (www.sampson.k12.nc.us) and social media platforms (@SampsonSchools).
