Fayetteville, NC – Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will shift to an asynchronous remote learning day on Thursday, January 23, 2025, due to icy road conditions and anticipated low temperatures. This decision was made in collaboration with local emergency management officials to ensure the safety of students, staff, and families.

This decision to move to remote learning prioritizes the safety of the entire school community during this period of inclement weather.

What This Means for Students:

  • All students will complete assigned coursework independently at home.

  • Elementary and middle school students have a five-day window to submit their work.

  • High school students have a three-day window for assignment completion.

  • Students enrolled in classes at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, or College Connections should contact their instructors for specific instructions.

Closures and Cancellations:

  • All district events and after-school activities, including athletic practices and competitions, are canceled.

  • The Prime Time Before and After School Program will be closed.

  • District offices and school buildings will be closed. Employees will work remotely.

  • Essential employees should await further guidance from their supervisors.

Staying Informed:

  • CCS will continue to monitor road conditions and will inform families of any schedule adjustments for Friday through ParentLink.

  • Updates will also be posted on the district's website and social media channels.

  • The district will only issue updates if there are changes to the schedule.
