Fayetteville Police are investigating a homicide after a shooting incident on Barton's Landing Place.

Just before 10:30 Sunday Morning officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a shooting incident on the 600 block of Barton’s Landing Place.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an individual suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, and the victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim has been identified as 36 year old Donte Maurice Vanclief of Fayetteville.

The victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Authorities are currently withholding the identity of the deceased individual as the investigation is in its early stages and to allow for next of kin notification.

Detectives from the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. Police have indicated that further details will be released to the public as the investigation progresses and becomes appropriate.
