Man Charged with Murder of Father-in-Law in Fayetteville Shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – A Fayetteville man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his father-in-law following a fatal shooting on Friday afternoon.

According to a release from the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded to a shooting report at approximately 5:17 p.m. on August 15, 2025, in the 1900 block of Poplar Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim, identified as 53-year-old Jamie Jones, in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following an investigation by the Fayetteville Police Department's Homicide Unit, 29-year-old Calvin Foster Jr. was identified as the suspect. Police confirmed that Foster is the son-in-law of the victim. Foster was arrested and has been charged with First Degree Murder. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.

The Fayetteville Police Department reminds the public that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
