DUNN, NC - The City of Dunn is preparing for an influx of military personnel and equipment this week as it participates in a joint training exercise with the North Carolina National Guard and local emergency services. From June 4 to June 7, 2025, approximately 100 Soldiers from the North Carolina National Guard's 5th-113th Field Artillery Battalion will be operating within the city.

The exercise, which aims to bolster readiness for real-world emergencies, will see the National Guard working in conjunction with personnel from the City of Dunn, the Town of Erwin, and Harnett County Emergency Services.

The primary focus of this joint exercise is to strengthen the North Carolina National Guard's operational capabilities for future missions, such as state emergency responses. It will also provide enhanced training opportunities for its Soldiers and civilian partners.

Residents may notice an increased presence of military vehicles and uniformed personnel throughout Dunn during these dates. The exercise is a crucial step in ensuring that both military and civilian agencies are well-prepared to respond effectively to a variety of emergency situations, from natural disasters to other critical events, safeguarding the well-being of the community.
