LILLINGTON, NC – February 13, 2025 - A Lillington man has been fatally shot following an officer-involved shooting on Neills Creek Road.

The Harnett County 911 Center received a call at approximately 1:35 PM on February 12, 2025, reporting a domestic disturbance at 3356 Neills Creek Road involving a subject with a knife threatening the caller.

Deputy Calvin Johnson of the Harnett County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Deputy Johnson encountered a white male subject, later identified as 31-year-old Leo Warren Reeves of Lillington, who allegedly challenged him with a knife.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputy Johnson made multiple attempts to de-escalate the situation before ultimately firing his weapon at Reeves, who was reportedly advancing towards him with the knife.

Deputies on the scene provided medical treatment to Reeves until EMS arrived. He was then transported to Wake Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Deputy Johnson, 40, has been with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office since June 17, 2024, and has over eleven years of prior law enforcement experience.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is now conducting an investigation into the incident, as is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
