Cumberland County Board of Elections Welcomes New and Returning Members

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Board of Elections held a swearing-in ceremony during its regular meeting on July 22 at the Board of Elections office in the E. Newton Smith Center. The ceremony marked the beginning of new terms for both newly appointed and returning board members, who will oversee the county's electoral processes.

Ryan Eric Johnson and Brenda May "Bree" Eldridge were officially sworn in for their first terms, having been recently appointed by the North Carolina Board of Elections. Their addition brings fresh perspectives to the five-member board.

Veteran board members Linda Devore, Irene Grimes, and Derek Edmonds also took the oath of office, commencing new terms of service. Linda Devore will continue to serve as the chair of the board, providing experienced leadership. Irene Grimes, who previously held the position of chair, will continue to contribute her extensive knowledge to the board's operations.

The Cumberland County Board of Elections plays a crucial role in ensuring fair and accurate elections for all residents. The board is responsible for voter registration, precinct organization, candidate filing, and the tabulation of votes.

The Board of Elections holds its regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. The public is welcome to attend these meetings to stay informed about election-related matters.
