May 01, 20251 min read

A Fire Wednesday Evening has resulted in the complete destruction of the former clubhouse at the old Lake in the Pines swim area, located off Murchison Road. The Fayetteville Fire Department confirmed that the blaze was contained after nearly two hours of firefighting efforts.

Fire officials stated that they received an emergency call around 6:25 PM reporting an outdoor fire. Upon arrival at the scene, crews found the abandoned clubhouse building heavily involved in flames. Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the fire, finally bringing it under control just before 8:25 PM.

While the fire is now contained, the building is considered a total loss due to the extensive damage. Investigators are currently on the scene working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. According to officials, it is still unclear whether the fire started inside the building or externally.

The Lake in the Pines swim area has been closed for some time, and the future of the property remains uncertain. This fire adds another layer of complexity to the site's status.

Fay News 10 will continue to provide updates on this story as the investigation progresses and more details are released by the Fayetteville Fire Department.
