Raeford Teen Charged in Dornoch Drive Homicide Appears in Court
An 18-year-old Raeford resident charged with first-degree murder made his initial court appearance today. Kam’Ron Tolson faces charges in connection with the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Rolando Gomez II on Dornoch Drive in Fayetteville on June 8. Investigators allege that Tolson and another suspect were involved in breaking into vehicles when the shooting occurred. The District Attorney’s office requested no bond for Tolson due to the aggravating circumstances of the charges.
Tolson, a current high school student who has attended both Hoke County High School and Jack Britt High School, had family members waiting outside the courtroom, but they declined to make a statement. His next court appearance for these charges is scheduled for July 31, 2025.
Additionally, Tolson has previous, pending charges set for a court appearance tomorrow, July 15. These include probation violations, carrying a concealed gun, going armed to the terror of people, and resisting a public officer.
Brook Street Shooting and Break-In Suspect Appears in Court
Javariaz Sykes, accused of breaking into a Brook Street home, stealing $5,000 worth of items, and shooting the homeowner who arrived during the break-in, had his first court appearance today. Sykes has been granted a secured bond, and if released, will be subject to GPS monitoring.
Fayetteville Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Deceased Woman
The Fayetteville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a deceased elderly female. This effort aims to connect with her family and ensure she receives proper final arrangements. The woman is described as possibly American Indian or Hispanic, estimated to be 65 years of age or older, approximately 5 feet tall and 150 pounds, with an olive to pecan complexion. She has graying hair long enough for a small ponytail, no teeth, and no tattoos. Distinctive medical characteristics include a missing big toe on her left foot, evidence of a recent abdominal medical procedure, and signs of a possible past left hip replacement.
